As an employee of Hatch Mott MacDonald, the Learning & Development Department (L&D) reaches out to you at many points during your employment. You first encounter L&D through Learning Point, our learning management system, and the invitation to complete the required online training. Next up is the opportunity to attend a Graduate Weekend event for new hires that are recent college graduates. This two-day event includes presentations from senior executives, team building activities, and opportunities to network with other HMM employees. After several years of employment, you may become eligible to participate in the Horizons program. Horizons is a 2-1/2 year career development program for young professionals within the company. Those employees in a management position can be nominated to the Navigator program, a management development program for increasing people management skills.
In addition to these programs, L&D provides other opportunities for learning. Many offices throughout the company hold Lunch & Learn seminars covering a wide variety of topics from project-related information to vendor-provided seminars. Some offices participate in the program known as “HMM Cinema” where 20 to 30 minute videos are shown during lunch. These videos cover topics such as health & safety and personal development skills. Available to all employees are the elearning courses contained in Learning Point. The elearning courses cover computer skills, as well as health & safety, and personal development. Formal education at a college or university is encouraged through the tuition reimbursement program. Participation in national and local industry-related organizations and conferences is also encouraged.
So, whether you are just starting out with HMM, or continuing a life-long journey of learning, L&D at HMM supports you.
