Fieldbook

In response to requests for an easy-to-use interface to access asset information such as GIS and documents, HMM developed its Fieldbook™ service. Fieldbook was custom-designed to meet the specific needs of the operations and engineering personnel for utilities and pipelines services.

Fieldbook’s suite of hosted software applications, which provides the tools required to track support information, was specifically developed to be user-friendly with minimal training. It is also optimized for low bandwidth situations that may be encountered under field conditions.

Fieldbook is configured to suit the individual needs of each client. All users require passwords for access and functions are role-based. Each user can access only the specific applications authorized by the client.

Base functions included with a typical Fieldbook application include GIS access (including ESRI-based maps), comprehensive document management, hydraulic modeling, and outage management. Other applications include a variety of inspection and work management solutions.

Fieldbook is a hosted solution but can be made available for client-side hosting as well. As a hosted application, all hardware and software issues are managed by HMM. Clients need only provide Internet access to run the application. A Help Desk provides user support during business hours.

A key advantage to the hosted Fieldbook approach is that users merely subscribe to the service as opposed to making a large capital expenditure. The client can therefore retain the flexibility to pursue other solutions if desired in the future.
