Hatch Mott MacDonald (HMM) is pleased to announce that Michael Gennaro has joined the firm. Michael comes to HMM from a mid-sized, New Jersey/New York/New England-based engineering firm where he served for nearly 25 years, reaching the position of President and Chief Operating Officer. Michael is a professional engineer and an attorney, with an unusually broad range of expertise and experience in the consulting engineering profession. He is skilled in leadership, management, client relations, risk control, claims negotiation, engineering methods, and financial controls. As such, Michael represents a high value and versatile management resource for Hatch Mott MacDonald, a growing and expanding organization.
Mr. Gennaro’s accomplishments as President and COO included initiating a strong strategic planning program, re-structuring the organization based on its primary service sectors, establishing quality-based project management practices, championing the adoption and use of BIM technology in the design process, the purchase/sale of acquisitions, as well as planning, budgeting, revenue forecasting, and human resources management. In addition, he managed the firm’s professional liability claims and litigation across both architectural and engineering disciplines.
With HMM, Mr. Gennaro will serve as the Commercial Director of the firm’s East business unit, which encompasses 39 offices in 18 states, and over 1,100 staff. His role will include commercial reviews and quality assurance/quality control of major projects, risk management, and claims/change order management. He will also serve as Associate General Counsel, handling contract management and negotiation, claims and litigation, and insurance matters; managing outside counsel; and assisting in corporate legal issues.
