Dave Van Rensburg
Practice Leader: Ports & Harbors
Dave Van Rensburg, PEng, is Hatch Mott MacDonald’s Ports and Harbors Practice Leader. He has 33 years of experience, including expertise in civil engineering, bridges, ports, ship loaders, elevated transit, and steel structures.
Dave is skilled at preparing contracts, estimates, and budgets, establishing and maintaining cost control systems, developing and monitoring schedules, and negotiating and managing construction contracts. He also has specific expertise in coordinating with environmental agencies, permitting authorities, community groups, and municipal and public authorities.
Most recently, Dave was the Project Director for Neptune Terminals, responsible for construction management and design coordination for the final construction phase and commissioning of a rail dumping system upgraded to increase annual handling by two million tons. He also served as the Owner’s Engineer for a project to construct the Canpotex Railcar Maintenance and Staging Facility in Saskatoon, Canada. His responsibilities for the project included overseeing the cost control, schedule, and execution of the design and construction of the facility and new track.
