Donald Nusser
Regional Practice Leader: Environment - East
Don Nusser, PE, is Hatch Mott MacDonald’s Environmental Practice Leader and Sustainability Chair. He has 36 years of experience working on a variety of environmental projects for public and private sector clients throughout North America and abroad, including cities, counties, wastewater and solid waste utility authorities, manufacturing and waste management firms, and the Federal government.
In addition to preparing environmental assessments, Don is skilled in the siting, planning, design, and full-service procurement of solid waste management facilities, and providing project management and engineering for large regional municipal wastewater authorities. His experience in soil and groundwater investigation and remediation projects includes the preparation of sampling and remediation plans and the management of large scale remedial construction projects. In addition, he has extensive experience in risk management through regulatory negotiation and project implementation.
Most recently, Don served as Project Director leading multi-phase environmental site assessments for the Community Development Corporation (CDC) of Butler County, PA, in order to assist the CDC in meeting the conditions of eligibility for a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Brownfield Grant. In addition, he was recently the Project Manager for a project to assess 50,000 feet of stormwater conveyance system piping for a large rail yard acting under a state regulatory agency consent order. The project included a complete inspection and analysis of the system including catch basins, pipes, and 25 outfalls, as well as system repairs, replacements, and new designs.
Don is a member of the Air & Waste Management Association, the Solid Waste Association of North America, and the American Public Works Association.
