Ginnette Lolli
Architect
I am an architect. I primarily work with Hatch Mott MacDonald’s Structural, Civil, and Wastewater Engineering teams. I work on a variety of projects including beach walkovers, marina clubhouses, animal shelters, as well as buildings for various wastewater treatment plants. I enjoy working on projects like these because many of them contribute directly to the good of the local community where they’re constructed. Waste water treatment facilities, for example, help ensure that processed water is responsibly treated and reintroduced into the environment. Other projects, such as beach walkovers, are instrumental in providing a public service.
One of the best things about working at Hatch Mott MacDonald is that I get to work with unique clients and a diverse design team. I find that developing a well-matched solution to meet my clients’ design criteria is both challenging and rewarding. One of the biggest rewards is to reach the end of a project and deliver a great building to a happy client. Throughout my career, I’ve been able to appreciate that good design, with thoughtful, efficient elements, does not depend on the availability of a large budget. Likewise, I have learned the importance of making good design a priority, regardless of the project size or scope.
My personal interests and leisure pursuits are often valuable sources for professional inspiration. I believe that architecture is fundamentally tied to art and design, and those are two of my great passions. Traveling with my husband, another great passion, provides me the opportunity to appreciate each place’s contribution to architecture and art and fuels my personal desire to be the best architect I can. Additionally, I enjoy sustainable living, cooking, and spending time with my family.
Outside of Hatch Mott MacDonald, I teach at the University of West Florida’s Summer Architecture Camp, which explores various aspects of architecture, including topics such as architectural history, urban architecture, model building, green design, and passive design strategies. In addition, I have successfully coordinated a team of my Hatch Mott MacDonald coworkers to enter and compete in the annual CanStruction Competition, in which we create a structure using donated canned goods which are subsequently donated to the local food bank to help needy families.
