Regional Practice Leader: Environment - Canada
Mark Armstrong, PEng, MESc, PMP, is Hatch Mott MacDonald’s Regional Practice Leader Environment - Canada. With 13 years of experience in environmental consulting, Mark specializes in Environmental Assessment and Compliance for transportation and municipal projects, where he draws upon his experience with contaminated sites, waste management, environmental protection, and permitting to develop effective solutions for clients.
Mark also oversees environmental design on large, multi-disciplinary projects in coordination with Hatch Mott MacDonald’s civil, structural, rail, and tunnelling engineers, as well as aquatic and terrestrial scientists. He leads a team of environmental specialists to develop environmental mitigation measures and integrate them into the design of complex infrastructure projects. Most recently, he managed the environmental mitigation measures for the GO Transit Rail and Transit Project (GO TRIP), a $750 million, seven-year capital project that enhanced six rail corridors in the Toronto area. Currently he is the Environmental Lead for the Twin Tunnel portion of the 25 km long Eglinton-Scarborough Crosstown light rail transit project in Toronto.
Mark has authored numerous technical papers on environmental issues for various conferences and publications. He is also a member of the Ontario Association for Impact Assessment.
