Mark Gerber

Regional Practice Leader: Environment - West

Mark Gerber is the U.S. West Regional Practice Leader – Environment, and a senior environmental scientist for Hatch Mott MacDonald. In this role, he is responsible for developing the firm’s environmental practice in the western United States, including developing relationships with clients, establishing teaming partnerships for major environmental projects, and providing environmental support to major HMM infrastructure projects.

With 17 years of experience, he has worked on projects throughout western North America, particularly in Arizona, Nevada, Utah, California, New Mexico, Montana, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. He has considerable knowledge in environmental permitting, NEPA management, and technical work within the natural resources, and noise and vibration fields. Mark’s focus is to balance environmental and development interests and to educate the public about the need for sustainable and practical solutions to public development and growth issues.

Recently, Mark served as the Senior Environmental Manager responsible for Quality Assurance for all environmental Aspects of the $1.7 billion I-15 Corridor Expansion Project, ensuring adherence to the project’s environmental commitments. He is also experienced working with mining, highway and bridge, and rail and transit clients, among others.

Mark is a Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) and a member of several professional organizations including the National Association of Environmental Professionals; the Wildlife Society; Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society; and the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association. He has also authored numerous journal articles as well as technical bulletins for the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Services and the United State Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management.
