Paul Stefow
Practice Leader: Rail Systems - Canada
Paul Stefow, PEng, is Hatch Mott MacDonald’s Rail Systems Practice Leader. He brings 40 years of experience to the role, in which he manages business development and project implementation for the company’s Rail Systems projects and directs advanced technology application in rail systems through a collaborative effort with our parent companies Mott MacDonald and the Hatch Group.
Throughout his career, Paul has honed his abilities in the transit, transportation, aerospace, and nuclear sectors. His success in general and project management, quality control and assurance operations, marketing, engineering, and manufacturing is evidenced by his role in complex, multi-million-dollar projects throughout North America.
Recently, Paul served the Project Manager and Principal in Charge for the Delcan-Hatch Joint Venture, responsible for project management, design, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and safety certification of the facilities and subway system. HMM was honoured to receive the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) International Project of the Year award, and the Consulting Engineers of Ontario award for project management excellence for this project.
In addition, Paul was recently the Deputy Chief Project Manager for the Toronto Transit Commission’s Spadina Subway Extension in Toronto, Ontario, responsible for the design and project management of the extension, and he worked with Montreal’s transportation department to develop a feasibility study for a subway extension project.
Paul is a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Railway Suppliers and a member of ITS Canada, the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers, the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA), and the American Public Transportation Association (APTA).
