Regional Practice Leader: Highways & Bridges - West
Robert Shulock, PE, is the Highways & Bridges Practice Leader—U.S. West for Hatch Mott MacDonald. With over 36 years of experience in civil, structural, and transportation engineering, he is responsible for shaping and expanding the firm’s Highways & Bridges practice.
Robert’s experience includes teaching, research, planning, general and project management, design, project procurement, and construction management and inspection. He has expertise in a variety of procurement/delivery methods including Design-Build and Public Private Partnerships. Throughout his career, he has served in the role of Project Executive, Project Manager, Project Engineer, Technical Advisor, and Quality Manager/ Reviewer on such award-winning projects as the Sound Transit LRT Elevated Guideway, the I-15 Design Build Freeway Reconstruction, the Navajo Steel Arch Bridge, the Crooked River Concrete Arch, and the Pasco Kennewick Cable-Stayed Bridge.
Robert is a member of a variety of technical and professional organizations including the Structural Engineers Institute, The American Society of Civil Engineers, the Dartmouth Engineers Club, and the International Association of Bridge and Structure Engineers. In addition, he sits on committees for several organizations including the National American Consulting Engineers Council—International Committee and Finance Committee; and the Transportation Research Board—General Structures Committee and Bridge Aesthetics Committee. He has also authored many technical papers for publications and conferences, and has presented as Keynote Speaker at national and international conferences, including delivering the Chairman’s Lecture, “Creating Structural Art with Everyday Bridges”, at the AASHTO Bridge 2006 Annual Meeting.
