Carteret Town Center Revitalization Project

Hatch Mott MacDonald assisted the Borough of Carteret in updating a “Master Plan” to help address the overall goals of the Borough by providing viable transportation enhancements for pedestrian and vehicular access throughout the Borough.  In addition, the rehabilitation and revitalization of Carteret’s aging downtown business and municipal complex districts will be promoted with the proposed streetscape elements within the plan.

HMM prepared the design phase and preliminary utility construction work for one aspect of the Master Plan, the Town Center Revitalization Project, for which the Borough secured Urban Enterprise Zone funds. The poor condition of the existing sidewalks and the deterioration of the aging municipal complex area have been the compelling factors for the revitalization of this area.

Project Highlights:

• Conceptual site layouts and design renderings for preliminary design
• Survey, grading, drainage, vertical and horizontal roadway alignments, plaza area design and layout, site amenities, lighting, utility coordination and connections, and roadway improvements for final design
• Development of the plaza area, performance area, monument locations, sitting walls, paver sidewalks, decorative lighting and bollards, irrigation, and landscape elements
