EXCO Resources

EXCO Resources requests hundreds of loads of water to be hauled to various wells and impoundments daily, and found it difficult to keep up with the volume of documents created by the haulers, who were inconsistent in completing manifests, causing additional research and time delays in processes payments. Additionally, EXCO uses 20 haulers, each of which uses a different system for storing manifests, and EXCO required a system that could be used by all haulers.

EXCO retained HMM to provide BPO services to help manage the logistics of its business. HMM used its custom developed Fieldbook Work Management solution to meet EXCO’s needs. HMM setup an Internet based service for haulers to use to submit their manifests on a daily basis. Using this system, all manifests are reviewed and entered, and any failures are logged and sent via an email the following morning along with a list any manifests that do not meet data entry requirements.

Project highlights included:

  • Hauling manifests are now in a searchable document management system, saving EXCO time when searching for records
  • HMM trained haulers remotely to use the system and all haulers are actively submitting manifests daily
  • Error reports are sent daily and haulers are quickly correcting any problems
  • Data is now reliable and available for reporting to government agencies
  • Interactive reporting is available through the document management system allowing EXCO to control its hauling costs and water usage
  • From a sustainability standpoint, EXCO now has daily knowledge of how much water is being drawn from sources and where the water is going, allowing the company to respect its commitment to the Susquehanna River Basin Commission for water usage
