The JetBlue Support Operations Campus at JFK International Airport provides JetBlue Airways an aircraft maintenance hangar with the capacity to simultaneously service Airbus 320/321 Series aircraft.  The hangar structure and an attached two-story Technical Operations building provide space to house the operations and support services associated with aircraft maintenance.  This facility enables JetBlue to consolidate maintenance operations into a new, current technology facility, as well as the ability to expand these facilities in the future. The facility is linked with existing building 81 that provides support to JetBlue’s operation.

The leased site area, including the existing building, covers nine acres including the 64,800 sq. ft. used for the construction of aircraft concrete hardstands, asphalt aprons, and a taxiway connection.  The building complex comprises of: the hangar, the hangar mezzanine, Technical Operations on first and second floors, shipping/receiving link, fire protection room, and an electrical switchgear room

The project was implemented under a Design/Build scenario with Turner Construction Company as the Contractor and HOK as the prime consultant.

HMM’s primary role on the project involved aircraft pavement, foundation, and pre-engineered building and fire protection designs. Complete designs were performed for the pavement and foundation components. In the case of the pre-engineered building and fire protection areas, HMM specified the design criteria, reviewed the design, and stamped the drawings with an engineer’s seal for submissions to the Port Authority of New York New Jersey.
